A small automation solution supplier located in Shanghai. Its customers include 3C, metal processing and auto parts industries. As the first batch of integrators to contact cooperative robots, they have accumulated rich experience in many non calibration and customization projects, but at the same time, they have been unable to afford because of the high degree of customization of the project.
In 2020, integrators began to cooperate with some daily chemical manufacturers to consider introducing cooperative robots into palletizing applications.


After cooperating with alite, the integrator quickly designed a safe, compact and easy-to-use palletizing solution - composed of an ec612 (12kg load) cooperative robot and the integrators linear motion component lifting column. The solution can help users in the daily chemical industry carry out palletizing operation on demand, optimize production space and quickly obtain return on investment.


Challenge
Recently, the end user of this project is a manufacturer of daily chemical products, including shampoo, hair care, skin care products, cosmetics, baby care products, womens hygiene products, medicine, fabrics, home care, personal cleaning products, etc.


The customers factories in East China have been established for more than 10 years. In the initial stage, the automatic stacking process was not considered when planning the layout of the production workshop, and the stacking of boxes of products on the pallet is still completed manually. Therefore, when they want to replace people with robots, there is no reserved space in the existing production line, which brings difficulties in the use of space. The integrators task is to provide users with intelligent solutions, design efficient palletizing systems for customers, give consideration to flexibility and ease of use, safety and compactness, and let enterprises make full use of the existing plant space.


Solution
There are two reasons why integrators choose to cooperate with alite. One is because alites open platform - integrators / end users can write applications flexibly. The second is Elliots rich experience in the application side of cooperative robot. Finally, the scheme is used for the stacking application of shampoo product line. Advantages of cooperative robots
In this application, the advantages of cooperative robot are very obvious: the cooperative robot with compact structure and very small self weight is installed on the lifting column, and the self weight of the cooperative robot with 12kg load is only 33.5kg, which is very lightweight compared with the traditional industrial robot. In addition, the safety of the cooperative robot can share the operation space with people without installing a safety fence. Therefore, the factory does not need to redeploy the production line and reserve a safe distance, which greatly reduces the restrictions on the application of the robot. Because there is a large distance between the pallet and the transmission line, when stacking the lowest two layers of goods, the movement of the lifting column helps the robot reach the cartons at a higher position, and the robot loads and unloads the materials through the vacuum suction cup.

Some extensions
When selecting the end effector, Alite suggested to the integrator: "for stacking and destacking applications, there are many types of actuators available, such as clamp, clamping jaw, suction cup or composite actuator with clamping jaw and suction cup; according to different power sources, they are divided into pneumatic and electric. How to select this kind of actuator usually depends on the form (boxed or bagged) and properties of the product (easy deformation, surface leakage rate or clamping position) and stack type. "


"The stacking application of the end user is for the boxed packaging. Because it is closely arranged and there is no space for clamping on both sides, it usually adopts the method of top suction. The lighter or more flat boxed packaging can be carried out by using multiple suction cups. For the heavier packaging, the product is taken out through the top suction, and then the mechanical limit is carried out through the clamping mechanism Actuator to improve the stability during emergency acceleration and deceleration. "
