What are the six axes of a six axis robot and what are its main functions

Published on:2020-04-22

Industrial robots mainly refer to four axis, five axis and six axis robots. The use methods and application requirements of each robot are different, and the choices are different. Let s explain which six axes the six axis robot is. (with logo picture reference)

Each of the six axes of the six axis robot is a motor, equipped with a reducer to drive. The motion mode and direction of each axis are different. Each axis actually simulates the action of each joint of the human hand.

One shaft: the first shaft is the part connecting the base, which mainly carries the weight of the upper shaft and the left-right rotation of the base. A left-right rotation action is the result of the transmission of the motor and reducer. Each shaft is a movement mode instead of one direction.

Two axis: it controls the front and back swing of the robot s main arm and the up and down movement of the whole main arm.

Three axes: the three axes also control the forward and backward swing of the robot, but the swing arm range is smaller than that of the second axis.

Four axis: the four axis is the part that controls the free rotation of the circular tube on the robot. The range of motion is equivalent to the human forearm, but it is not 360 ° rotation. There are wires in it, which are the same as the range of the human forearm.

Five axis: the fifth axis controls the up and down turning action of fine adjustment, which is usually the action that can turn the product over after the product is grabbed.

Six axis: the sixth axis is the rotation function of the end flange. It can rotate 360 °.

The maximum speed and rotation angle of each axis can be viewed in the robot product manual: robot selection tool
